Nexus Controls Services Upgrade Receives Four Appreciation Awards

Nexus Controls, a Baker Hughes business, has been building a long-term relationship with Saudi Aramco based on several successfully executed projects. The Services team recently won and executed a project with a scope to include two gas turbine units control upgrade and cybersecurity.

The upgrade consisted on the installation and commissioning of the following eight Nexus Controls solutions to control and protect the customer’s operation in Shaybah, Saudi Arabia.

• GT Mark VIe Upgrade
• Exciter EX2100e Upgrade
• Nexus OTArmor
• Bently Nevada Rack Upgrade
• GPP Relays Upgrade
• DC UPS System Upgrade
• HVAC System Upgrade
• Sub-Contractor Scope for Installation for all above

Saudi Aramco expressed their satisfaction with our Services team for their technical knowledge and on-site high caliber execution.

The team was able to solve many complex cybersecurity issues, while also meeting the customer’s shutdown schedules and reducing its duration.

To represent their satisfaction, Aramco Shaybah issued 4 total Appreciation Certificates to Nexus Controls:

• 2 Appreciation Certificates to FSE/Site Lead Mohamed Abdrabou
• 1 Appreciation Certificate to FSE/Site Lead Khaled Soltani
• 1 Appreciation Certificate to the entire Nexus Controls Business

Nexus Controls had agreed to fulfil the mobilization of more than ten manpower, including a team of sub-contractors and Field Services Engineers. However, given the COVID-19 pandemic scenario and legal travel restrictions, the team had to stop the work on the first day of mobilization and adapt their efforts. The customer provided separate rooms at the site in order to ensure that social distancing guidelines were respected. The team was then able to complete the project in a manner safe for everyone. Safety is our number one priority.
